But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

Our History

pbc-dennys-mtng

Pathway Bible Church was started by four brothers (in Christ) serving together at a local church in the Sunland/Tujunga area. After serving together for seven years together in College / Young Adult ministry and other ministry responsibilities, there was a mutual desire to grow the ministry. Upon much wrestling in prayer, conversation, and serving together; they have decided to take a step of faith to plant a church together in the Spring of 2007. Then, with the blessing and affirmation from the previous church leadership, the church began to meet at in the living room of Mike & Kris Chau. After about two years, the church moved to Lighthouse Learning Center as our current main gathering place for Sundays.

Since the beginning, the leadership has been committed to upholding one another in and remaining faithful to the required character quality of an overseer to be one who leads/stands before/manages his own household well (1 Tim 3:4). We are committed not to unduly sacrifice our families on the altar of ministry. Our marriages and our relationships to our children are the platform we stand upon to do pastoral ministry not the currency by which ministry is “paid” for. If an overseer/pastor does not lead/stand well/manage his own household well, he is NOT ABLE to care for the church (1 Tim 3:5). So although our commitment has meant we have not been able to do as many things (i.e. outreach programs, ministry programs, etc.) as we would like to, the leadership understands and recognizes the significance of building God’s church through raising godly parents that can lead their children to faith in the gospel of our glorious Lord Jesus.

Our Commitment

The commitment of the leadership for the church has been: 1. faithful exegesis of Scripture and application of Scripture through fellowshipping around God’s word taught. 2. Incorporating children’s Bible lesson with the parents to provide greater platform and guide for parents to provide spiritual leadership for their children. 3. Worshipful time of singing praises through biblically sound Christ exalting worship songs carefully picked without diminishing the traditional hymns of the faith. 4. A time of fellowship around meal on Sundays to practically apply loving one another to build each other up. 5. Commitment to pray for one another, while not forgetting the needs experienced by the brothers and sisters around the church and around the globe.

What to Expect

On any given Sunday you can expect to see people walking in to church with their children running around calling people uncles and aunties with hugs and smiles. Sunday worship service starts bit later than advertise time to give people ample time to get settled in and greet one another. The order of service is quite casual in that there is a time for people to give praise and thanksgiving to God with one another followed by time of singing. Children’s main lesson is taught during the main service to help parents to understand what children are taught. When the children are excused there is a short time of intermission then the main teaching time starts. After a time in God’s word the worship service ends and lunch is served for a time of fellowship around the table.
